M365 on Mac, iPad & iPhone

Microsoft 365 on Apple devices.

Running Microsoft 365 on Apple is the most common modern business setup in Australia. EduCom IT helps businesses make it work properly — Outlook, Teams, SharePoint and OneDrive on Mac, iPad and iPhone, with identity, security and device management configured cleanly across both ecosystems.

Why this combination works

Apple devices, Microsoft 365 platform.

Most Australian businesses now run a hybrid stack — Apple hardware (Mac, iPad, iPhone) on top of the Microsoft 365 platform. Apple wins on the device experience and security primitives; Microsoft wins on the broader productivity ecosystem and identity. Done well, the combination gives users the best of both worlds.

Done poorly, it falls between the two — Apple devices that aren't properly managed, Microsoft tooling that doesn't quite see them, and security gaps where the ecosystems don't meet. We close that gap.

How we make it work

  • Apps — Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, Teams, OneDrive deployed natively on Mac and iPad.
  • Identity — Microsoft Entra ID with Conditional Access and MFA across all devices.
  • Mac management — Intune for unified Apple/Windows fleets, or Jamf for Apple-first depth.
  • iPad & iPhone — supervised via Apple Business, enrolled into Intune or Jamf, secured with Conditional Access.
  • SharePoint & OneDrive — sync working properly on Mac, with the right governance.
  • Security — Defender for Endpoint on Mac where appropriate, plus broader Essential Eight uplift.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Does Microsoft 365 work properly on Mac?

Yes. Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, Teams and OneDrive all have native Mac apps. With the right M365 plan, identity setup and Mac-aware deployment, the experience is excellent.

Can we use Intune to manage Macs?

Yes. Microsoft Intune supports macOS device management, configuration, compliance and app deployment alongside iOS and Windows. For Apple-heavy fleets, Jamf often provides deeper Apple control.

Will Teams run well on iPad?

Yes. The Teams iPad app supports meetings, chat, channels and Files. For frontline or hybrid environments, iPad makes a strong M365 endpoint.

We're new to Apple — what do we need to know?

Apple devices use a different management model to Windows — supervised devices, Apple IDs, Apple Business linkage, and Apple-specific MDM features. We help businesses transition cleanly without losing M365 governance.
